Esenpro is all about designing and developing gearboxes keeping the clients’ requirements first. We have a wide product range and multiple installations globally in the steel, cement, plastic, mining, power, overhead cranes, port, and chemical industries. Our manufacturing unit has state-of-the-art CNC machines and other infrastructural equipment to produce high-quality gears. The in-house manufacturing includes Shaft and Blank Turning, Gear Hobbing, Heat treatment, Cylindrical Grinding, Helical Gearboxes, and Gear Teeth Profile Grinding. Esenpro is one of the leading industrial gearbox manufacturers in India. We manufacture and export standard and custom-built industrial gearboxes.
Helical gearboxes are the most convenient and popular. They have applications in both small-scale & large-scale industries. Helical gearboxes primarily decrease speed and increase torque between rotating shafts. The teeth get oriented at an angle to the shaft. It allows more than one tooth to be in contact during operations. Hence, the movement becomes faster, and the gearbox handles more load. The superior load capacity of helical gearboxes lets them have numerous applications across high-scale industries. These gearboxes become an integral component of conveyor belts, elevators, blowers, compressors, cutters, etc.
Helical gearboxes can get divided into two groups, those that transmit power between parallel shafts and those that transfer power between non-parallel shafts, commonly known as cross-axis gears. The configuration of helical gears allows them to perform more quietly and smoothly than others because of the load sharing between teeth.
Helical gearboxes use a set of cylindrical gears whose teeth are not parallel to the turning axis. The teeth act as the segment of the helix that makes it transform power between right or parallel angle axes. The teeth create a helix and have the tendency to operate more quietly. These gearboxes have more potential to transmit power between two parallel shafts compared to other industrial gears.
The state-of-the-art design of helical gearboxes makes them highly beneficial for various industrial applications. These gearboxes are highly durable and can handle high-load tasks quite easily. The angled teeth of helical gearboxes help them function more smoothly and efficiently. Also, there will be lesser chances of decrement as the power will be distributed between several teeth. They also get used in low-power applications such as conveyors, mixers, cranes, coolers, extruders, and crushers as they are more convenient.
Single helical gears have teeth at a particular angle to the axis. We can have the right and left-hand orientations of these gears. The fundamental features of these gears include getting more surface touching and power carrying capacity. Hence, the increase in load capacity of the gearbox leads to them having more usage in high-load applications.
Double helical gears are a sub-type of helical gearboxes in which two helical sections are installed close to each other with a gap dividing them. Each of these sections has similar but opposite helix angles. The double-helical arrangement of gears removes thrust forces and enables the possibility of higher tooth overlap and smoother performance. It also allows smoother movement. Double helical gears are typically applied in enclosed gear systems.
Herringbone types are similar to the double-helical form but do not have a distance separating the two helical faces. They are usually smaller and are perfectly suited for high-vibration and shock cases. They do not get employed often based on their production difficulties and high price. Herringbone gears provide a gear-based way of removing thrust. Half the face is cut in one direction while the other half is cut in the opposite direction, beneficially balancing the thrust improved by the gear. According to the production method used to create such double-helical gears, a central gulley can be required for the teeth to be staggered or for tool clearance. An exception to handedness is in cross-axis types, where the parts are perpendicular. In these cases, the two gears will be of the same hand. Shafts for helical gearbox can cross at any angle.
Esenpro and other reputable industrial gearbox manufacturers in India suggest helical gearboxes because they are highly convenient and power efficient. They also ensure smoother and more silent performance. The industries where helical gearboxes get applied are –
Most commonly, helical gearboxes are required for elevators, conveyor belts, compressors, blowers, cutters, and other automated systems.
